  • 200 g stroopwafels (Dutch syrup waffles)
  • 300 ml heavy cream
  • 150 g pitted dates, chopped
  • 100 g brown sugar
  • 80 g unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 100 ml milk
  • chopped nuts (e.g. walnuts or pecans) optional
  • caramel sauce optional

Method
 

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, brown sugar, butter, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon. Whisk until smooth.
  2. Layer half of the stroopwafels at the bottom of the slow cooker. Pour half of the cream mixture over them.
  3. Sprinkle half of the chopped dates evenly on top.
  4. Repeat the layering process with the remaining stroopwafels, cream mixture, and dates.
  5. Cover and cook on low heat for 2 hours until the mixture is set and creamy.
  6. Once done, turn off the slow cooker and allow the dessert to rest for 30 minutes before serving.
  7. Serve in small portions, garnished with optional nuts and a drizzle of caramel sauce for added indulgence.
