Equipment
Method
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples with cinnamon, nutmeg, and a drizzle of brown sugar. Toss well to coat and set aside.
- In another bowl, mix the rolled oats, all-purpose flour, remaining brown sugar, coconut flakes, and salt. Stir in the melted butter until fully combined and crumbly.
- Spread the apple mixture evenly in the baking dish. Top generously with the oat mixture, ensuring the apples are well-covered.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 35 minutes or until the top is golden and the apples are tender.
- Remove from the oven and allow to rest for 10 minutes before slicing. This will help the crisp to hold its shape.
- Serve warm or at room temperature, optionally garnished with whipped cream or a scoop of ice cream.

Add a handful of nuts for an interesting crunch or try using whole wheat flour for a healthier option.
If you have leftovers, they can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
To reheat, simply pop them in the oven at 150°C (300°F) for a few minutes until warmed throughout.
