Ingredients

  • 200 g apples
  • 50 g rolled oats
  • 500 ml water or low-sodium vegetable broth
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • unsweetened applesauce optional

Equipment

  • Blanching pot (for broccoli)
  • Heatproof mixing bowl
  • Blender or food processor
  • Cookie scoop or spoon
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. In a pot, bring 500 ml of water or low-sodium vegetable broth to a boil.
  2. Add the diced apples and rolled oats to the pot, reduce to a simmer, and cover.
  3. Cook for about 15–20 minutes, or until the apples are very soft. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  4. Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly for about 5 minutes.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a blender or food processor. If you prefer a smoother texture, blend until pureed; for a chunkier texture, blend just a few times until the desired consistency is reached.
  6. If using cinnamon, stir it in after blending.
  7. Let the baby meal cool down to a safe temperature before serving.
