Ingredients

  • 1 (approximately 120 g) ripe banana
  • 150 ml plain unsweetened yogurt
  • 30 ml (if needed for consistency) water
  • a pinch of (for added flavor) cinnamon optional
  • a few drops of (for fragrance) vanilla extract optional

Equipment

  • Fork or potato masher
  • Heatproof mixing bowl
  • Small saucepan (for gentle heating)
  • Blender (for a smoother texture)

Method

  1. Start by peeling the banana and placing it in a mixing bowl. Using a fork or potato masher, mash the banana until it reaches a creamy consistency, leaving some soft lumps if desired.
  2. Add the plain yogurt to the mashed banana and mix thoroughly to combine.
  3. If your child prefers a warmer meal, transfer the mixture to a small saucepan over low heat. Gently warm the banana and yogurt mixture for about 5 minutes, stirring often until heated through.
  4. If the mixture is too thick, add a little water (30 ml at a time) to achieve the desired consistency.
  5. Allow to cool slightly before spooning small portions onto a plate or bowl suitable for your baby. Serve warm or at room temperature.
