Ingredients

  • 4 dried dates, pitted and chopped
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon loose herbal tea
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1 cup oat milk
  • Ice cubes for serving
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish optional
  • Honey or agave syrup to taste optional

Equipment

  • Small pot
  • Mixing spoon
  • Fine mesh strainer
  • Tall glass or mug
  • Blender (for a smoother consistency)

Method

  1. In a small pot, combine the water, chopped dates, and sliced strawberries. Bring it to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Once boiling, reduce to a simmer and add the loose herbal tea and ground cardamom. Allow it to steep for 5 minutes.
  3. After steeping, remove from heat and strain the mixture into a tall glass, discarding the solids.
  4. Stir in the oat milk, adjusting to your desired creaminess. If you prefer a sweeter drink, add honey or agave syrup to taste.
  5. For a chilled version, pour over ice cubes. For a warm option, enjoy it straight away while still steaming.
  6. Lastly, garnish with fresh mint leaves, if using, and serve!
