Ingredients

  • 200 g soft tofu
  • 150 g cooked rice (white or brown)
  • 250 ml low-sodium vegetable broth
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped carrots optional
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped peas optional

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Medium saucepan
  • Cooking spoon
  • Fork or potato masher

Method

  1. Start by cooking the rice according to package instructions, ensuring it becomes soft and fluffy.
  2. In a saucepan, combine the vegetable broth, finely chopped carrots, and peas. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat for about 5 minutes, until the vegetables are tender.
  3. Next, carefully crumble the soft tofu into the saucepan. Stir gently to combine, allowing the tofu to absorb some of the broth’s flavor. Cook for an additional 5–7 minutes or until everything is warm.
  4. Once cooked, remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool slightly. If your baby prefers a very smooth texture, use a masher or fork to gently mash the mixture.
  5. Finally, serve the Soft Tofu and Rice Bowl in small, baby-friendly portions. Allow it to cool to a safe temperature before feeding.

This dish is excellent for freezing! Just portion it into baby-sized servings, and it will keep in the freezer for up to three months. To reheat, simply thaw in the fridge overnight and warm gently on the stovetop or in the microwave.
Remember, the texture and flavors can be adjusted to suit your little one's developmental stage—add more broth for a smoother consistency or increase the veggies for added nutrition!
