Ingredients

  • 200 g dark chocolate, chopped
  • 120 g tahini
  • 100 g brown sugar
  • 75 g all-purpose flour
  • 50 g unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • Fresh mixed berries (e.g., raspberries, blueberries) optional
  • Optional dusting of powdered sugar optional

Equipment

  • 9x9 inch baking pan
  • Heatproof mixing bowl
  • Electric mixer (or whisk)
  • Cooking spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F) and grease the baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, melt the dark chocolate over a double boiler or in the microwave until smooth. Allow it to cool slightly.
  3. Whisk the tahini and brown sugar into the melted chocolate until well combined.
  4. Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and sea salt.
  6. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the chocolate mixture until just combined; the batter should be thick and fudgy.
  7. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  8. Bake for 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Let the brownies cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into square pieces and top with fresh berries before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

Feel free to swap out tahini for almond or peanut butter if you prefer a different flavor profile.
You can also add nuts, such as walnuts or pecans, for extra texture.
If you find the brownies too sweet, a pinch more salt or a sprinkle of sea salt on top just before serving can help balance the flavors.
Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for longer freshness.
Happy baking!
