Method
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, salt, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg.
- Gently heat the milk until warm (about 37°C / 98°F) and mix in the cooled coffee. Pour the mixture into the dry ingredients and knead until a smooth dough forms.
- Incorporate the softened butter into the dough, kneading until well blended and elastic (about 5-7 minutes).
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size (approximately 30 minutes).
- Once risen, roll the dough out on a floured surface to about 1 cm thickness. Fold it in thirds (like a letter) and refrigerate for 15 minutes to chill.
- Roll out the dough again into a rectangle, and fold in thirds once more. Chill for another 15 minutes.
- Finally, roll out the dough into a large rectangle, and cut triangles (10 cm base). Starting from the base, roll each triangle into a crescent shape.
- Place the shaped croissants on a parchment-lined baking tray, and brush the tops with the egg wash. Allow to proof for another 30 minutes or until puffy.
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Bake the croissants for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and flaky. Keep an eye on them to ensure they don't over-bake.
- Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack. Serve with your preferred fruit jam and dust with powdered sugar for presentation.

Notes
Feel free to switch up your choice of fruit jam based on what’s seasonal or your personal favorites—apricot works wonderfully with coffee.

Reheat gently in the oven before enjoying for that fresh-baked taste! Happy baking!
