Ingredients

  • 250 g all-purpose flour
  • 150 g granulated sugar
  • 100 g unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 150 ml milk
  • 100 g Greek yogurt optional
  • 2 tbsp honey optional
  • Extra cinnamon for dusting optional
  • Fresh berries for garnish optional

Equipment

  • Heatproof mixing bowl
  • Baking dish (approximately 9x13 inches)
  • Electric mixer or whisk
  • Cooking spatula
  • Piping bag for yogurt cream

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease the baking dish with butter or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the ground cinnamon and orange zest.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, until well incorporated.
  5. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Once baked, allow the dessert bars to cool in the pan for about 30 minutes.
  7. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, mix together the Greek yogurt and honey until smooth to create the yogurt cream.
  8. When cooled, cut the dessert into neat squares or bars. Serve with a drizzle of yogurt cream on top and a sprinkle of extra cinnamon. Feel free to add fresh berries for a colorful garnish!

Notes

For a vegan option, you can substitute the eggs with flaxseed meal and use non-dairy yogurt; coconut yogurt works wonderfully!
Get creative with toppings! Consider adding shredded coconut, chopped nuts, or seasonal fruits for added flavor and texture.
These dessert bars can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. They can also be frozen for longer storage—just thaw at room temperature before serving. Enjoy!
