Ingredients

  • 400 g pumpkin, peeled and diced
  • 200 ml water
  • 1 tsp olive oil optional

Equipment

  • Steaming pot
  • Blender or food processor
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Cookie scoop or tablespoon

Method

  1. Begin by peeling and dicing the pumpkin into small cubes.
  2. Place the diced pumpkin in a steaming pot and add the water. Cover and steam over medium heat for about 15–20 minutes, or until the pumpkin is fork-tender.
  3. Once cooked, transfer the pumpkin to a blender or food processor.
  4. Blend the pumpkin until smooth and creamy. If the puree is too thick, gradually add some of the steaming water or breast milk/formula to reach the desired consistency.
  5. Stir in the optional olive oil for added richness, if using.
  6. Allow the puree to cool slightly before serving. Ensure it's at a comfortable temperature for your baby.
  7. Serve in small portions and enjoy introducing your little one to this wholesome meal!

Chef’s Tip: If you want to introduce more variety, consider mixing in a small amount of other pureed vegetables or fruits like sweet potatoes or apples. Always check with your pediatrician for the best options for your baby. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days, or freeze in individual portions for later use. Enjoy making this nutritious dish for your growing little one!
