Ingredients

  • 150 g fresh salmon fillet, skin removed
  • 200 g sweet potato, peeled and diced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 50 ml water (for steaming)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Fresh herbs (like dill or parsley) for added flavor optional

Equipment

  • Steamer pot
  • Chef's knife
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Fork or potato masher
  • Blender (optional for smoother texture)

Method

  1. Begin by peeling and dicing the sweet potato into small chunks for even cooking.
  2. Place the diced sweet potato in a steamer pot and add water. Steam for about 15 minutes, or until they are fork-tender.
  3. While the sweet potato is steaming, place the salmon fillet in a separate pot with a small amount of water. Cover and cook on medium heat for approximately 10 minutes, until the salmon easily flakes with a fork.
  4. Once both the sweet potato and salmon are cooked, transfer them to a mixing bowl.
  5. Add olive oil and, if desired, a pinch of salt. Mash all the ingredients together using a fork or potato masher until you reach a smooth consistency. For a creamier texture, use a blender.
  6. Let the mixture cool slightly before serving to your baby. Remember, the temperature should be safe for little mouths.
  7. Serve in small portions and enjoy helping your little one discover new flavors!
