Ingredients

  • 300 g 2 ripe pears
  • 15 g 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 150 ml water
  • A pinch of cinnamon optional

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • Heatproof mixing bowl
  • Blender or food processor
  • Cookie scoop or spoon

Method

  1. Begin by peeling and dicing the pears into small chunks.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the diced pears and water (or apple juice).
  3. Heat over medium heat until the mixture begins to simmer, then reduce the heat, cover, and cook for about 10 minutes or until the pears are very tender.
  4. Stir in the chia seeds and let it sit off the heat for about 5 minutes to allow the chia seeds to expand and thicken the puree.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a blender or food processor and blend until you achieve the desired consistency; this may vary from smooth to slightly chunky.
  6. Allow the puree to rest for a couple of minutes, then serve in small portions suitable for your baby.

Notes

Chef’s Tip: Feel free to switch out the pears for apples or peaches to provide variety. If your little one enjoys flavors, a dash of cinnamon can add a delightful twist. This mixture stores well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Simply warm it before serving, and for an even smoother texture, add a bit of water or breast milk to thin it out. Your baby is going to love this meal adventure!
